Thirteen-year-old Chinese swimmer Yu Zidi continued her record-breaking run at the Asian Games, winning gold in the women’s 200m individual medley.
Yu clocked 2:06.10 to set a new Games record, finishing just four-tenths of a second outside the world record.
“Very excited, very happy. It’s an achievement that shows the hard work of our team,” Yu said after the race.
The schoolgirl had earlier claimed her first major gold medal on the opening day of the Games, setting an Asian Games record in the 200m butterfly.
Yu said she was even more pleased with her second gold medal.
“I’m happier with the second gold medal than the first,” she said.
The teenager made history at last year’s World Championships when she became the youngest swimmer to win a medal at the competition.
She was 12 when she won bronze as part of China’s 4x200m freestyle relay team.
