More than 20,000 small and medium enterprises, SMEs, have participated in business activities that generated over N5 billion in transaction value in the past 10 years, according to the founder of GlitzFair, Ahmad Adam.
Mr Adam disclosed this at a press conference in Kano as part of activities marking the 10th anniversary of the platform.
He said the transactions involved businesses operating across sectors including fashion, food, technology, agriculture, manufacturing, beauty and services.
According to him, the platform has organised 17 business fairs in Kano and Abuja over the past decade, providing participating businesses with opportunities to display their products, meet customers and establish commercial relationships.
“Over the past 10 years, GlitzFair has recorded more than N5 billion in transaction value.
“That figure represents customers discovering businesses, entrepreneurs making sales, businesses getting new customers, partnerships being formed, products moving from shelves into people’s homes,” he said.
Mr Adam said the figures reflected the level of commercial activity generated by small businesses participating in the platform’s events and related activities.
He said the platform had also used business fairs, networking activities, masterclasses and digital platforms to connect SMEs with potential customers and business partners.
Mr Adam said the next phase would focus on expanding the platform’s activities to more cities in Northern Nigeria and other parts of the country.
He also announced plans to establish a business clinic for women-led enterprises and organise a business summit involving stakeholders in the SME sector.
