2027: After Five Failed Attempts, I’ll Win Katsina Governorship — Lado

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Katsina State, Senator Yakubu Lado Danmarke, has expressed confidence in winning the 2027 election, despite failing in five previous attempts to become governor.

Lado, who contested the governorship election under different political parties without success, said his political ambition was gaining momentum, with supporters from other parties reportedly joining the PDP ahead of the 2027 poll.

He spoke in Katsina while receiving members of the Katsina Frontier in Support of Senator Yakubu Lado for Governorship, saying he was convinced that his next attempt would produce a different outcome.

“I have contested five times under different political parties, but this time, I am confident of winning the election,” he said.

The former senator said his ambition was driven by a desire to improve governance in the state rather than pursue personal interests.

He said he was not seeking the governorship to enrich himself, build houses or marry more wives, but to address what he described as poor governance in Katsina.

Lado accused Governor Dikko Umaru Radda’s administration of failing to deliver on its responsibilities, alleging that government ministries and other sectors were not functioning effectively.

He also criticised the state government’s handling of insecurity, alleging that residents continued to suffer killings and kidnappings by bandits.

The PDP candidate urged voters to remove the All Progressives Congress (APC) from power in 2027, describing the election as an opportunity to change the direction of the state.

He assured the new supporters of fair treatment and pledged to work with them towards achieving the party’s electoral objectives.

Earlier, the leader and coordinator of the Katsina Frontier, Ali Sani, pledged to mobilise support for Lado through grassroots campaigns and house-to-house mobilisation.

Sani urged residents to vote for all PDP candidates in the 2027 elections, assuring them that the party would prioritise the welfare of the people through purposeful leadership.
