In a calculated move to consolidate political dominance ahead of the 2027 general elections, the Muslim Affairs Directorate of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors in Lagos State has launched an aggressive voter sensitisation campaign aimed at galvanising the state’s vast Muslim population in support of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The initiative gathered momentum following the official inauguration of the directorate, as its Director, Alhaji AbdulWaheed Tella, led a high-powered delegation on a strategic working visit to the national headquarters of Jamaat Ahli Llahi (JAMAHLIY) in Ikeja, Lagos.
At the heart of the engagement was a strong push for voter participation, with emphasis on registration, Permanent Voter Card (PVC) collection, transfer of voting locations, and active turnout during elections.
Addressing a large gathering of congregants, community leaders and stakeholders, Tella underscored the numerical strength and political significance of the Muslim community in Lagos State.
“Lagos State has an estimated population of over 25 million people, with Muslims accounting for about 15 million,” he stated. “If this population secures their PVCs and turns out massively to vote for the APC in 2027, victory is assured for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, and all APC candidates.”
Tella further defended the policies of the current administration, asserting that President Tinubu inherited a deeply troubled economy but is steadily repositioning the nation for growth and stability.
“Nigeria faced decades of systemic decline, but today, President Tinubu is rebuilding it step by step. The results are already becoming evident across the country and particularly in APC-governed states,” he said. “Sustaining this leadership will unlock even greater opportunities for Nigerians.”
In a direct appeal to residents, the director called on eligible voters—especially those who have changed locations within the state—to update their voter information with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
“If you have relocated from areas like Mushin to Ipaja, ensure you transfer your polling unit either online or at the nearest INEC office,” he advised. “On election day, come out with your families and vote across all levels—Presidential, Governorship, National Assembly and State Assembly.”
Responding on behalf of JAMAHLIY, Prof. Mustapha Bello commended the initiative, describing it as a timely intervention that bridges civic engagement and community responsibility. He urged members to comply with the call by securing their PVCs and participating actively in the electoral process.
The visit signals the commencement of a wider grassroots mobilisation campaign by the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, targeting Islamic institutions and key voter blocs across all 20 Local Government Areas of Lagos State as the countdown to 2027 gathers pace.
