The City Boy Movement has set a target of 10 million votes for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election, as the group intensifies its grassroots mobilisation across the country.
The Director-General of the movement, Oluwatosin Francis Shoga, disclosed this on Monday in Kano at the conclusion of a dinner and the inauguration of state coordinators.
Mr Shoga said the target was informed by the rapid growth of the movement’s membership nationwide, with Kano State emerging as one of its strongest centres of support.
He, however, charged members and coordinators to begin working immediately to translate the movement’s growing membership into votes for Mr Tinubu.
“We have started working now. The work to achieve the 10 million votes for Asiwaju starts now, and we can do it. We can achieve it.
“We are counting on Kano. Kano is our heart, and we believe Kano can deliver for Asiwaju. Every coordinator, every member must work towards achieving this target.
“We believe Asiwaju is working. He is fixing Nigeria. So, let us work together to ensure his victory in 2027 and allow him the chance to continue the good works he is doing presently,” Mr Shoga said.
The Director-General also tasked the Kano State coordinators, led by Nasir Ja’oji, with increasing the movement’s membership in the state to 50,000 before the end of September.
In his remarks, the Kano State Director of the City Boy Movement, Mr Ja’oji, said the organisation was committed to building a strong, united, disciplined and effective grassroots structure capable of delivering its objectives.
He said the movement was established to contribute to the political development of communities while strengthening the structures of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
“As leaders and members of this movement, we must understand that leadership is not merely about occupying positions. It is about responsibility, service, coordination and the ability to inspire others.
“I therefore encourage everyone to participate actively in today’s discussions. Let us share ideas, identify our challenges, learn from one another and develop practical solutions that can be implemented when we return to our respective zones and Local Government Areas.
“Our objective must be clear: to build a strong, united, disciplined and effective grassroots structure capable of delivering the objectives of the City Boy Movement and contributing meaningfully to the political development of our communities and our great party,” Ja’oji said.
Also speaking, Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf urged residents of the state to turn out en masse to vote for President Tinubu in the 2027 general election.
The governor, who was represented at the event by APC National Ex-Officio, Muhammad Jamo, also urged Kano voters to support APC candidates from the presidential to the state House of Assembly elections.
He assured the gathering of his administration’s commitment to ensuring the success of President Tinubu and other APC candidates in the 2027 elections.
