2027: Gov. Sule picks Sen. Wadada as preferred successor

Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, has named Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada as his preferred candidate for the governorship ticket of the All Progressives Congress, APC, ahead of the 2027 election.

Mr Sule made the declaration on Thursday during a meeting with governorship aspirants and political appointees at the Government House in Lafia.

Reacting to the endorsement in a post on his Facebook page, Mr Wadada expressed gratitude, describing the governor’s support as both an honour and a call to greater service.

“I receive with deep humility and a profound sense of responsibility the endorsement of His Excellency… as the preferred aspirant for the gubernatorial ticket of our great party,” he said.

He added that the endorsement reinforces his commitment to the peace, unity, and development of Nasarawa State, while pledging to build on the achievements of the current administration.

Mr Wadada also extended an olive branch to other aspirants within the party, urging unity and mutual respect in the build-up to the election.

“Our aspirations are born out of a shared love for Nasarawa State. Our strength lies not in division, but in our ability to stand together in pursuit of a common good,” he stated.

He further appealed to his supporters to remain calm and avoid actions or statements that could create tension within the party.

“Politics should never divide us; rather, it should strengthen our resolve to build together. Let us remain guided by discipline, respect, and the enduring values that define our party,” he said.

The senator emphasised that the endorsement comes with shared responsibility, calling for collective effort to deliver greater dividends of democracy to the people of the state.
