Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf has urged residents of the state to vote for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other candidates of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the 2027 general election.
The governor also pledged his administration’s commitment to ensuring the success of President Tinubu and all APC candidates in the forthcoming elections.
Mr Yusuf made the call on Monday through the APC National Ex-Officio, Muhammad Jamo, who represented him at a dinner and inauguration of state coordinators of the City Boy Movement in Kano.
The governor urged the people of Kano to support the APC across all levels of the 2027 elections, from the presidential to the state House of Assembly contests.
He assured members of the movement and other party supporters that his administration would work towards the success of Tinubu and the party’s candidates in the election.
The governor’s position came as the City Boy Movement announced an ambitious target of securing 10 million votes for Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
The Director-General of the movement, Oluwatosin Francis Shoga, disclosed the target at the event, saying it was based on the organisation’s expanding membership and grassroots structures across the country.
Mr Shoga said Kano remained a critical component of the movement’s mobilisation strategy, urging coordinators and members to commence grassroots mobilisation immediately.
“We have started working now. The work to achieve the 10 million votes for Asiwaju starts now, and we can do it. We can achieve it.
“We are counting on Kano. Kano is our heart, and we believe Kano can deliver for Asiwaju. Every coordinator, every member must work towards achieving this target,” he said.
He said the movement believed the Tinubu administration was “fixing Nigeria” and urged members to work for the President’s re-election to enable him to continue with his policies.
Mr Shoga also directed the Kano coordinators, under the leadership of Nasir Ja’oji, to increase the movement’s membership in the state to 50,000 before the end of September.
Earlier, Mr Ja’oji said the movement was focused on building a strong, united, disciplined and effective grassroots structure capable of delivering its political objectives.
He said the organisation was established to contribute to the political development of communities and strengthen the APC at the grassroots.
“As leaders and members of this movement, we must understand that leadership is not merely about occupying positions. It is about responsibility, service, coordination and the ability to inspire others,” Mr Ja’oji said.
He urged members to identify challenges confronting the movement and develop practical solutions that could be implemented across their respective zones and Local Government Areas.
The inauguration of the state coordinators is part of the movement’s broader mobilisation efforts ahead of the 2027 general election.
