President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has urged Nigerians to remain steadfast in the hope they entrusted in his administration since May 29, 2023, saying that he shares the pain citizens are going through amid the socio-economic challenges in the country, news.ng reports.
The president, during his acceptance speech after emerging as the presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2027 general elections in Abuja on Sunday, told members of his party and the entire nation that he knows what it takes to turn a tattered economy around.
The president noted that since his party gave him the mandate in 2022, a lot has changed.
He said, “I shared the pain with you. I know what it takes to reform this economy that was in tatters. If you lost sleep, I lost some too. If you have lost weight, I think I have lost some too.”
“But I have always remembered one thing: that year, 2022, I asked for this job, and you all supported me, and I got it. So, I must do it. Since that night, a lot has changed.”
Amid the spate of insecurity and growing agitation among the masses losing hope in his administration, the president promised to build a more secure nation while putting the interests of the people at heart.
He added: “We shall build a more secure, united, and prosperous Nigeria for generations to come. I pledge to build an even more inclusive government, one that listens, the government that learns and leads with the best interest of Nigerians at heart.”
This news platform reports that, at the conclusion of the presidential primary of the APC, Tinubu polled a total of 10,999,162 votes.
