The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has declared the commencement of the third phase of the Continuous Voter Registration, CVR, exercise.
A statement issued by Mohammed Kudu Haruna, Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, informed the public that the ongoing nationwide CVR initiative will recommence for its third and final phase on Monday, 11th May 2026.
The second phase of this initiative was halted on 17th April 2026 to enable the Commission to clean up the register following its publication of claims and objections by registrants.
The statement indicated, “The third phase of the CVR, commencing on Monday, 11th May 2026, will conclude on Friday, 10th July 2026.
“During this timeframe, eligible citizens who have reached the age of 18, as well as those who were unable to register in the previous phases, are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to register.”
It further stated that registered voters wishing to transfer their registration, replace lost or damaged Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), or amend their biodata, should utilize the Commission’s dedicated online portal or visit INEC State and Local Government Area offices across the nation.
It mentioned that “In continuation of the process, the Commission will display the Register of Voters for claims and objections from Thursday, 23rd July to Wednesday, 29th July 2026.
“This statutory exercise offers a significant opportunity for citizens to review the register and assist the Commission in ensuring its accuracy, completeness, and credibility.
“The Commission assures Nigerians that all necessary preparations have been finalized for the seamless execution of the exercise.
“We once again urge all eligible citizens to come forward for registration and contribute to fortifying the foundation of our electoral process.”
