2027: Why I’m dumping Peter Obi for Tinubu – Ortom

Former Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom has stated why he is dumping the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, presidential candidate, Peter Obi, for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.

Speaking during an interview on Arise Television’s ‘Morning Show’ on Tuesday, Ortom said his support for Tinubu is a deliberate political decision.

He added that he publicly declared his support for Tinubu when his former G5 colleague, Nyesom Wike, was appointed Minister of the Federal Capital Territory.

According to the ex-governor, he has no regrets about his decision to support Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.

DAILY POST recalls that Ortom supported Peter Obi in the 2023 presidential election but changed his position after Tinubu emerged as President.

“I made a statement, and I have no regret making that statement, that in 2027 some of us will support Tinubu to win.

“In 2023, I supported Obi. When Nigerians spoke, and President Tinubu was president, I said, ‘If you can’t beat them, you join them,” he said.
