31 Killed As Gunmen Attack Kaduna Community, Torch Homes

At least 31 people have been killed after suspected terrorists attacked Kamaru Village in Zangon Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State in the early hours of Monday.

A former councillor of Kamaru Ward, Jacob Nera, told FIJ that the attackers stormed the community around midnight, firing indiscriminately as they moved from house to house.

According to him, several shops and at least one house were set ablaze during the attack.

“The death toll is currently 31. They came around 12 a.m. and went from house to house, shooting.

“They also set some shops and a house on fire,” Nera said.

FIJ reported that residents were still searching for missing persons, adding that it was too early to determine whether anyone had been abducted.

Nera said the motive for the attack remained unclear, describing it as the first such incident ever recorded in the community.

“For now, we don’t know if anyone was kidnapped. It is just the death toll for now.

“This is the first time Kamaru has come under this kind of attack,” he added.

As of the time of filing this report, security agencies had yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
