The Adamawa State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed reports suggesting that it plans to replace Alhaji Tijani Galadima as its governorship candidate ahead of the 2027 election.
The party’s Publicity Secretary, Dogo Victor, described the claims as false, insisting that there was no move to substitute Galadima.
“We are hearing all these allegations about plans to change Galadima; there is nothing like that. He is the 2027 governorship candidate of the ruling APC in Adamawa State. Take it from me as the spokesman of the party in Adamawa State,” Victor said.
There have been concerns within some sections of the party regarding Galadima’s perceived absence from the state and his level of grassroots engagement.
Responding to the concerns, Victor said the party had already begun efforts to increase Galadima’s visibility and connect him with more residents across the state.
“If you notice, wherever Governor Ahmadu Fintiri goes these days, he follows him. This is a strategy employed to introduce him to grassroots people before the proper election campaign starts,” he stated.
Victor also dismissed suggestions that businessman Abdulrahman Haske could emerge as a replacement, maintaining that the party remained confident in its current candidate.
However, a member of the APC State Executive Committee, who spoke on condition of anonymity, expressed concern over Galadima’s popularity among voters.
The party official alleged that Galadima’s candidature was imposed on the party and warned that the APC could face challenges if it failed to build broader support for him ahead of the governorship election.
Despite the concerns, Victor maintained that Galadima remains the party’s preferred candidate and faces no threat to his position within the APC ahead of the 2027 governorship contest.
