A Nigerian man has questioned the impact of President Bola Tinubu’s economic reforms, asking whether the benefits exist “in spirit or in physical” as Nigerians continue to grapple with economic hardship.
In a post shared on X, the man argued that despite the government’s reform efforts and the publicity surrounding them, electricity generation has not significantly improved, insecurity remains a concern and poverty has continued to affect many Nigerians.
He said, “President Tinubu’s economic reform, is it in spirit or in physical? Because tell me, after all the reform hype, electricity in Nigeria didn’t add megawatts, insecurity remains the same, and the poverty rate has skyrocketed.”
The comment triggered reactions from Nigerians, with some users questioning the actual impact of the reforms on ordinary citizens, while others argued that state governments should also be held accountable for issues such as electricity.
One user noted that Nigerians are experiencing the hardship physically every day, while another described the reforms as “audio reforms.”
Others, however, urged citizens to direct questions about electricity generation and distribution to their state governors following the devolution of some electricity responsibilities to the states.
