The European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre, EMSC, says a 4.7 magnitude earthquake has struck Southern Iran.
The EMSC said the quake, which occurred on Wednesday, was at a depth of 14km (8.7 miles).
It said that the earthquake hit parts of Hormozgan province and was felt by residents of Qeshm and Hormoz cities, as well as rural areas in Bandar Abbas.
According to the agency, the epicentre of the quake was near Bandar Laf at a depth of 20km.
The agency added that there have so far been no details of any injuries or damage, noting that it would bring any updates as it gets them.
DAILY POST reports that a 4.7 magnitude earthquake is considered a light to moderate event that is widely felt but generally causes minimal damage.
It will be recalled that a magnitude 4.3 earthquake last week hit Tehran, the Iranian capital city.
