The Edo State House of Assembly Service Commission has summoned the Clerk of the House, Audu Omogbai, to appear before it following allegations of age falsification and other irregularities raised against him.
A petition submitted by a group identifying themselves as “Concerned Staff of the Assembly” accused Omogbai of falsifying his age to remain in service. The petitioners also claimed that his initial appointment, dating back to 1993, has exceeded the mandatory 30 years of service, and that he has surpassed the statutory retirement age of 60.
The petition further alleged that Omogbai has obstructed investigations by withholding official files necessary for verification. “We humbly request your intervention to investigate these allegations and take appropriate actions to maintain integrity and adherence to regulations within the Edo State House of Assembly,” the petitioners stated.
In response, the Chairman of the Assembly Service Commission, Sir Ezehi Igbas, issued a letter inviting Omogbai to appear before a three-member Ad-hoc Committee of the Commission for an interview session.
Attempts to reach Omogbai for comments were unsuccessful, as he did not respond to calls or messages sent to his mobile phone.
The Assembly Service Commission is expected to carry out the investigation in line with established procedures, with staff and stakeholders closely monitoring developments.
