Renowned Nigerian actor and filmmaker, Ali Nuhu, has opened up about a deeply personal decision that influenced his career path in the film industry.
The veteran Kannywood star revealed that his refusal to participate in romantic scenes involving kissing played a significant role in his decision to step away from certain acting opportunities.
According to Nuhu, engaging in such acts on screen made him uncomfortable and conflicted with his religious beliefs.

Ali Nuhu explained that, at a point in his career, he was faced with roles that required him to kiss women he did not know personally, a situation he found difficult to reconcile with his values. He noted that rather than compromise his faith, he chose to prioritise his principles, even if it meant stepping back from acting.

“I wasn’t comfortable kissing random women in movies, and it went against my religion, so I decided to stop acting because of my beliefs,” he said.
However, Nuhu remains one of the most respected figures in the Nigerian film industry, particularly within the northern sector, where he has built a legacy defined by discipline and cultural sensitivity.
