Amaechi made pregnant woman to give birth in prison – Wike alleges’

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, has accused the vice presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, of causing a pregnant woman to give birth in prison while he was serving as governor of Rivers State.

Wike made the remark on Wednesday during his monthly media chat with selected journalists.

According to him, Amaechi who served as governor of Rivers State from 2007 to 2015 had shut down the judiciary system in the state, causing the pregnant woman to give birth in the prison.

He stated this while criticizing the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA for giving Amaechi platform to speak during the just concluded annual conference in Port Harcourt.

“Rotimi Amaechi, who wants to be vice president today, once shut down the court in Rivers State and made a pregnant woman to give birth in the prison,” he alleged.

Wike further stated that if as “I’m sitting today as minister of the FCT, who is seen as governor of the FCT and I call for court to shut down,” he should not be given a platform to defend that.
