
Anambra State Police Command has secured the remand of a couple, Mr. Chukwudi Chukwuyere, 40, and Mrs. Chisom Chukwuyere, 30, at a correctional facility over their alleged involvement in the abuse of a 10-year-old boy in Isiowulu, Anambra State.
The suspects were arraigned before a competent court following the conclusion of preliminary investigations into the case, which sparked widespread public outrage after reports and video footage of the victim surfaced on social media.
According to the Police, the child was rescued after concerned residents alerted authorities to the incident. The victim was subsequently provided with necessary medical care, while the suspects were apprehended and charged.
The Command commended residents of the community for their vigilance, cooperation, and timely provision of information, which played a crucial role in the rescue of the child and the successful prosecution of the case.
Reaffirming its commitment to justice and the protection of human rights, the Anambra State Police Command stated that it remains dedicated to ensuring the safety and welfare of vulnerable persons in line with the vision of the Inspector-General of Police.
The Police added that further developments regarding the case would be communicated to the public as investigations and legal proceedings continue.
