The Anambra State Police Command has arrested three suspects in separate operations and recovered a locally made pistol, ammunition, suspected hard drugs, burglary tools, and other incriminating items.
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, operatives of the Command’s Rapid Response Unit (VCRU) on June 19, 2026, intercepted and arrested two suspects identified as Williams Ndifon and David Missang, both aged 27, during a patrol along the Igbariam–Achalla Road.
The suspects were riding on a Daylong motorcycle when they were stopped and searched by the police. Items recovered from them included a locally made Beretta pistol, one live round of ammunition, six mobile phones, two power banks, a sledgehammer, a chisel believed to be used for breaking into properties, quantities of substances suspected to be Cannabis Sativa, and a black polo shirt bearing the inscription “Nigeria Army Barracks Youths Foundation (NABYF).”
In a separate operation later that day, at about 6:00 p.m., VCRU operatives acting on credible intelligence arrested a 21-year-old suspect, Oluchukwu Onyekwe, at Agukwu Nri in Anaocha Local Government Area.
Police said the suspect was found in possession of a substantial quantity of dried weeds suspected to be Cannabis Sativa. Preliminary investigations further linked him to cult-related activities within the area.
The three suspects are currently in police custody as investigations continue to determine their involvement in criminal activities and identify possible accomplices.
The Anambra State Police Command urged residents to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies to aid efforts aimed at maintaining public safety and combating crime across the state.
