The Anambra State Police Command has provided financial assistance to support the urgent medical treatment of a 10-year-old boy who was allegedly subjected to severe abuse by his guardian in Isiowulu, Anambra State.
According to a statement issued on Thursday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, operatives attached to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Awka, were deeply concerned after witnessing the child’s critical condition and the extent of his suffering.
In response, the Command offered financial support to facilitate his medical care and recovery, describing the gesture as part of its commitment to protecting vulnerable members of society, particularly children.
“The Command, while expressing concern after witnessing the severity of the child’s condition and pain, rendered support for his medical care and recovery,” the statement said.
The police further disclosed that investigations into the incident have been intensified, with assurances that anyone found responsible for the abuse will be prosecuted in accordance with the law.
The Command reiterated its determination to enforce laws aimed at protecting children from abuse, neglect, exploitation, and all forms of violence.
Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to working closely with relevant government agencies, child protection organisations, and community stakeholders to safeguard the rights, safety, and welfare of children across the state.
He stressed that the Anambra State Police Command remains dedicated to promoting justice, compassion, and the protection of human rights in line with the vision of the Inspector-General of Police.
