Another Humiliating Defeat for Arsenal as Man City Close Gap

Arsenal Football Club Sunday evening suffered yet another humiliating defeat at the hands of their rivals, Manchester City, in pursuit of the English Premier League title, losing 2-1 at the Emirates Stadium, news.ng reports.

Sunday’s defeat adds more frustration for Mikel Arteta as City close gap by three points.

The highly anticipated Super Sunday fixture between the two league leaders delivered the expected drama as both teams went into half-time levelled following goals from Rayan Cherki in the 16th minute, with a quick response from Arsenal courtesy of Kai Havertz in the 18th minute.

From all indications, neither of the two clubs wants to settle for a draw until after the 65th minute, when Erling Haaland’s left-footed shot from the centre of the box hit the bottom left of the box to make it 2-1.

City showed great professionalism to maintain the lead while absorbing the pressure from Arsenal until referee Anthony Taylor sounded the whistle to bring the match to an end.

Sunday’s defeat to Arsenal will be the Gunners’ second defeat at the hands of City this season in all competitions.

City (67) is now trailing leaders Arsenal (70) with 3 points, with City having one outstanding match to play.
