Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has stirred fresh political debate after declaring that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains the only person who can count on Rivers State ahead of the 2027 general election.
Speaking during a public appearance, Wike dismissed suggestions that opposition parties stand a chance in the oil-rich state, insisting that anyone banking on Rivers votes should abandon such expectations.
According to the minister, “In 2027, let nobody make a mistake, if anybody is counting Rivers, go now and cancel it. The only person who counts Rivers is Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”
The statement has since triggered widespread reactions on social media, with many Nigerians expressing differing opinions over the minister’s remarks.
