The All Progressives Congress (APC) has won the Dawakin Kudu State Constituency by-election in Kano State, with its candidate, Hussaini Yusuf Datti, polling 22,890 votes.
Datti emerged winner after Saturday’s election, which was conducted to fill the vacant seat in the Kano State House of Assembly.
The Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) came second with 270 votes, while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) secured 180 votes.
The Action Peoples Party (APP) polled 53 votes, while the Labour Party (LP) recorded 39 votes.
The election was held across the constituency on September 19, 2026, with voters turning out to elect a new representative following the vacancy.
The Independent National Electoral Commission’s results portal showed that results from all 303 polling units in the constituency were uploaded.
The exercise was conducted amid security arrangements across the constituency, with the Kano State Police Command describing the election as peaceful.
The command commended residents for their cooperation with security personnel, saying their conduct contributed to the orderly conduct of the poll.
It also thanked voters, electoral officials and other stakeholders for supporting the security agencies throughout the exercise.
With Datti’s victory, the APC has secured the vacant Dawakin Kudu State Constituency seat in the Kano State House of Assembly.
