Nollywood actress Doris Ogala has accepted a public apology from Pastor Chris Okafor, founder of Mountain of Liberation and Miracle Ministries (also known as Grace Nation), but expressed strong disagreement with his claim that her allegations against him were lies.
The development unfolded on Sunday during a church service, where Pastor Okafor knelt before his congregation in a viral video, admitting to past mistakes and tendering an apology to Ogala and others he may have offended.
“Mistakes have been made in the past, and I tender an apology to everybody… To the lady called Doris Ogala, I am sorry. I apologise to everyone I have offended,” the cleric said, adding that he was ready to make restitution. However, he maintained that “everything that was said is not true” and contained “so many lies.”
In response, Ogala shared the video on her Instagram page and wrote: “Chris Okafor, please don’t kneel. This was all I wanted. Apology accepted.”
She quickly added a clarification: “Chris Okafor, I forgive you, but there’s a problem. Where you said everything is a lie, I have a problem with that because I don’t lie.”
The controversy stems from Ogala’s earlier accusations that Pastor Okafor had a romantic relationship with her, promised marriage, breached that promise by marrying another woman (identified as Pearl), and shared explicit content without consent. She had also demanded ₦1 billion in compensation through her lawyers in a letter dated December 16, 2025.
The saga escalated with Ogala’s brief arrest by police earlier in December, followed by her release after interventions from activists. Pastor Okafor’s public gesture appears to have de-escalated the feud, though Ogala’s insistence on the truth of her claims keeps lingering tension.
Social media reactions have been mixed, with some praising the pastor’s humility and others supporting Ogala’s stance on accountability. The apology has sparked broader discussions on forgiveness, truth, and public figures in religious leadership.
