Troops of Operation Fansan Yamma targeted notorious bandit hideouts in a series of intelligence-led offensives. In Sokoto State, soldiers of the COAS Intervention Battalion VII clashed with armed groups in the Magonho Forest, killing three bandits and recovering AK-47 rifles, motorcycles, and other weapons.
Zamfara State was not left out. Troops carried out a precision ambush along the Gada Maya–Makakari axis, eliminating two suspects and seizing arms, ammunition, and communication devices. Even a retaliatory attack in Kaida Village was successfully repelled, while clearance operations in Zurmi Local Government forced fleeing bandits to abandon their weapons.
In Kebbi State, intelligence led soldiers to suspected hideouts in Giron Masa, Shanga Local Government Area, where the elusive Lakurawa group was reported. Despite resistance, reinforcements ensured the offensive continued, and efforts are ongoing to track fleeing elements. Military authorities confirmed, “Intelligence-led operations are ongoing to track and neutralise fleeing terrorists,” underscoring the army’s resolve to maintain pressure on armed groups across the region.
