Atletico Madrid have firmly ruled out any possibility of striker Julián Álvarez joining Barcelona, with the club insisting the Argentine is not for sale at any price.
Speaking in a strong public statement, Atletico Madrid CEO Miguel Ángel Gil confirmed that the club has informed Álvarez, his representatives, and Barcelona president Joan Laporta of its position.
“My position is clear, the club’s position is clear. We’ve made it known to the player, his representatives, and the president of Barcelona,” Gil said.
The Atletico chief described Álvarez as the ideal striker for the club and stressed that the Spanish giants have no intention of allowing him to leave.
“I have absolutely no doubt that Atlético is the right place in the world for Julián, and that Julián is the perfect centre-forward for Atlético Madrid. We want to keep him.”
Responding to recent comments from Barcelona president Joan Laporta regarding the club’s pursuit of the forward, Gil delivered a blunt message.
“I recently heard president Laporta say that the offer he made to Atlético Madrid wasn’t unlimited. My only response is that our answer is unlimited.”
Gil further revealed that Atletico had already rejected a €100 million offer for the Argentine international and would also turn down bids worth €150 million or even €200 million.
“We didn’t accept an offer of €100 million, and we will not accept one of €150 million or even €200 million for Julián Álvarez. We want to keep Julián,” he added.
The statement effectively ends speculation linking the former Manchester City striker with a move to Barcelona, with Atletico making it clear that Álvarez remains a key part of the club’s long-term plans.
