The President-elect of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya, SAN, has expressed gratitude to lawyers across the country for electing her to lead the association, promising to serve with integrity, humility, courage and accountability.
In a message issued after her victory, Badejo-Okusanya thanked members of the NBA for the confidence reposed in her, describing her election as a collective victory for lawyers who believe in building “a bolder Bar that works for everyone.”
She also appreciated her fellow contestants for contributing to what she described as a robust democratic process and commended all lawyers who participated in the election.
“Thank you to the members of the Nigerian Bar Association for the confidence you have reposed in me by electing me as your President. I am deeply humbled by your trust.
“This victory belongs to all of us who believe in A bolder bar that works for everyone. Thank you to every member who supported this vision, to my fellow contestants for enriching our democratic process, and to every colleague who participated in this election,” she said.
The Senior Advocate of Nigeria also thanked members of her campaign council, volunteers, coordinators, supporters, friends and colleagues for their commitment throughout the electioneering process.
She extended appreciation to her husband, family members and mentors for their prayers, encouragement and unwavering support.
Declaring that the campaign season was over, Badejo-Okusanya said attention would now shift to fulfilling the promises made to members of the association.
“The campaign is over. The work begins now. I pledge to serve every member of the Nigerian Bar Association with integrity, humility, courage, and accountability.”
She pledged to work for the welfare of lawyers across the country, promising to build an NBA
“Together, we will build an NBA where lawyers can earn better, live better, and practise better,” she said.
