Former Middlesbrough and Frankfurt forward, Jan Åge Fjørtoft, has named Manchester City striker, Erling Haaland as the player who should win the Ballon d’Or.
According to Åge Fjørtoft, it’s clear that Haaland should win the Ballon d’Or because he won trophies with Man City last season, helped Norway to reach the quarter-final stage at the 2026 FIFA World Cup and also scored 58 goals for club and country.
Haaland is among the 30-man nominees shortlisted for the Ballon d’Or.
“You’ll say I’m biased because I’m Norwegian too. But to me, it’s clear: Erling Haaland should win the Ballon d’Or,” Åge Fjørtoft wrote on X on Tuesday.
“Two trophies in England last season. 58 goals for club and country. Became a global star at the World Cup, playing a huge role in Norway’s run to the quarter-finals. Give him the Ballon d’Or.”
Haaland came closest to winning the Ballon d’Or in 2023, when he finished as the runner-up behind Lionel Messi.
