Bauchi State Governor, Sen. Bala Mohammed has directed all political appointees intending to contest elective positions in the forthcoming party primary elections to resign their appointments on or before April 24, 2026.
The directive, contained in a press release issued on Wednesday by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Publicity, Mukhtar Gidado, stated that the decision is in compliance with the provisions of the Electoral Act 2026 (as amended).
According to the statement, the move is aimed at ensuring full adherence to statutory requirements governing the participation of public office holders in electoral processes.
The governnor expressed appreciation to the affected appointees for their service and contributions to the development of the state, while wishing them success in their future endeavours.
It further directed all such appointees to hand over government property in their possession, along with the responsibilities of their offices, to appropriate officers within their respective Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).
