Nollywood actress and media personality Bisola Aiyeola has raised concerns over the growing menace of faceless trolls and the spread of fake news on social media, calling on the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) to take decisive action.
Aiyeola made this known in a recent statement, where she questioned the possibility of tracing anonymous individuals who use digital platforms to harass others and disseminate false information.
Her comments have sparked conversations around accountability and regulation in Nigeria’s online space.

“Is there any way we can trace faceless people that troll and spread fake news?” she asked.
Aiyeola went further to highlight the damaging impact of cyberbullying, noting that many individuals hide behind anonymity to attack others without facing consequences.
She urged the NCC, the regulatory body overseeing telecommunications in Nigeria, to outline clear measures to curb such behaviour.
According to her, the unchecked rise of online harassment and misinformation poses a serious threat not only to public figures but also to everyday social media users. She stressed the need for stronger policies and enforcement mechanisms to ensure a safer digital environment.
However, Aiyeola appeal adds to the growing demand for transparency and responsibility in the digital space, as stakeholders seek sustainable solutions to address the challenges posed by anonymous online activity.
