“Boko Haram Attack” — Nine Soldiers Reportedly Killed, Beheaded As Insurgents Overrun Military Formation In Borno

Boko Haram insurgents have reportedly attacked a military formation at Mandara-Girau in Biu Local Government Area of Borno State, killing several soldiers.

Mandara-Girau is located a few kilometres from Biu town.

Security sources said the attackers stormed the military location in the early hours of Friday and opened fire on troops during heavy rainfall.

According to one of the sources, the insurgents came in large numbers and took the troops unawares, leading to heavy casualties.

“They killed nine soldiers and injured several others, and they were all beheaded,” the source alleged.

The source further claimed that part of the military formation was overrun by the suspected Boko Haram terrorists during the attack.

In a one-minute, 38-second video clip reportedly obtained after the incident, the bodies of eight soldiers were seen covered with blankets on the ground.

The attack adds to renewed concerns over the resurgence of terrorist activities in parts of Borno State, particularly in communities close to military formations and rural settlements.

As of the time of filing this report, the military had yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
