Security operatives have rescued seven victims abducted during Monday’s attack on Lassa Day Secondary School in Askira/Uba Local Government Area of Borno state.
The rescue was carried out by security operatives who have continued search-and-rescue operations to locate other students believed to have been abducted during the assault.
Authorities said the exact number of missing candidates has yet to be confirmed.
The gunmen, suspected to be terrorists stormed the school in the early hours of Monday, disrupting the examination and throwing the school community into panic.
Eyewitnesses said the attackers arrived in large numbers, forcing students and school personnel to flee for safety.
While seven students were rescued during the initial security response, several others remain unaccounted for.
The latest attack has renewed concerns over the security of schools in Borno State and other parts of the North-East, where armed groups have repeatedly targeted educational institutions despite ongoing military operations.
Security agencies said efforts were ongoing to rescue the remaining victims and strengthen security around schools to prevent further attacks.
Meanwhile, anxious parents and residents have continued to gather around the school and neighbouring communities, awaiting updates on the whereabouts of the missing students.
