Busayo Adegoke John-Paul, sister of Adebayo Adelabu, a former minister of power and her 12-year-old twin sons, who were abducted earlier in the week, have regained their freedom.
A senior police source confirmed to newsmen in Ibadan, Oyo state, that the victims were rescued on Friday night.
“They were rescued this night,” the police source said, without giving further details on the operation.
John-Paul and her children were kidnapped at Elewura-Challenge in Ibadan South-West Local Government Area.
The attack reportedly occurred when armed men trailed the vehicle conveying the victims from their residence before intercepting them at about 7:30 a.m.
In a separate but related incident earlier reported in the state, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Wale Oriade, was also abducted in Ibadan in December 2025.
Eyewitnesses had previously described a separate abduction at his office along Akala Expressway, where armed men allegedly arrived in a blue Micra vehicle and whisked him away.
“The nature of the attack and the precision with which it was carried out have caused deep concern within the community,” an eyewitness had said.
Authorities are yet to release full details surrounding the rescue operation, while investigations are ongoing.
