The Delta State Government has approved the recruitment of additional teachers for public secondary schools and the procurement of modern equipment for technical colleges as part of efforts to improve education and strengthen technical skills acquisition across the state.
The approvals were among the major decisions reached at the Executive Council (EXCO) meeting chaired by Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori.
Addressing journalists after the meeting, the Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, said the council expressed concern over the shortage of teachers in public secondary schools, particularly in science-related subjects.
He said the Ministry of Secondary Education had been directed to immediately prepare a comprehensive report indicating the number of teachers required, adding that the Executive Council had given approval in principle for the recruitment of additional teachers..See the video & full news here.
