His Imperial Majesty, Oba Samuel Omapariola Odimayo, Olowomuwagun III, the Olofun of Irele Kingdom, has launched the Malokun Vigilante Volunteers Group as part of efforts to enhance security and protect lives and property across the kingdom.
The initiative reflects the monarch’s commitment to ensuring peace, safety and sustainable development within communities under his traditional domain.
Over 50 Volunteers Undergoing Training
According to palace sources, more than 50 volunteers have already commenced intensive training to prepare them for their responsibilities as community security operatives.
The training programme is designed to equip members with the skills and discipline required to support existing security structures and respond effectively to local security challenges.
Upon completion, the volunteers are expected to be deployed across Ode Irele and other towns and villages within the Irele Kingdom.
Strengthening Grassroots Security
The establishment of the Malokun Vigilante Volunteers Group underscores the growing role of traditional institutions in complementing government efforts to maintain peace and order at the community level.
Residents have increasingly called for stronger local security measures in response to concerns about criminal activities affecting rural communities across different parts of the country.
