The lawmaker representing Sokoto South Senatorial District, Aminu Tambuwal, has withdrawn from the 2027 general election race.
Following his withdrawal, former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Faruk Yabo, has been endorsed as the consensus candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Politics Nigeria recalls that Tambuwal was a presidential aspirant under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) during the 2023 general elections but stepped down in favour of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
In a related development, former Sokoto State Deputy Governor, Manir Muhammad Dan’iya, who served under Tambuwal, has emerged as the ADC consensus governorship candidate for the 2027 elections in Sokoto State.
