Brentford trashed Nuno Espírito Santo’s side, West Ham United, 3-0 to move into sixth position in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon, news.ng reports.
West Ham’s Kristantinos Mavropanos erroneously gave Brentford the lead, scoring an own goal in the 15th minute.
Brentford maintained their lead after half-time, as Igor Thiago found the back of the net in the 54th minute to make it 2-0.
They sealed the victory in the 82nd minute, courtesy of Mikel Damsgaard.
West Ham’s loss has dampened their chances of escaping the relegation zone, as Brentford continue to rise, now on 51 points, even as they face an uphill task next week against Manchester City.
Elsewhere, Brighton and Hove Albion scored once but were beaten 3-1 by Newcastle United.
The Magpies moved to 13th with 45 points, while Brighton remains 7th with 50 points.
In the other Saturday afternoon fixture, Wolverhampton Wanderers drew 1-1 with Sunderland, a result that leaves them condemned to relegation. Sunderland are 12th with 47 points as they prepare to meet Manchester United next Saturday.
