Nollywood actress Kudirat Ogunro has shared her opinion on the ongoing family disagreement over the burial arrangements for late gospel singer Toluwanisings.
The controversy followed a statement reportedly issued by one of the singer’s uncles on behalf of the family, outlining their position on where and when the deceased should be buried.
According to the uncle, the family was willing to cover the mortuary expenses for as long as necessary. He also insisted that Toluwanisings should be buried at his residence, where his wife and children live.
However, the uncle alleged that the singer’s wife rejected the proposal. He added that the family subsequently suggested burying him at their own family house, but she reportedly turned down the option, citing the distance.
Reacting to the development, Kudirat Ogunro expressed reservations about the practice of burying people within residential properties, describing it as an unwise decision.
The actress questioned the long-term implications of such arrangements, particularly if the deceased’s children eventually decide to sell the property as adults.
She wondered whether prospective buyers would be comfortable purchasing a house with a burial site on the premises.
Sharing her thoughts, Kudirat said:
“I said it last month, and I’ll say it again: burying people at home isn’t a good idea.
What if the children grow up and decide to sell the house? Who wants to buy a house with a burial ground?
Yes, people may buy such properties and exhume the remains, but why create that problem in the first place?
Personally, I don’t think it’s advisable. Just my opinion, though!”
