Nollywood romantic comedy Call of My Life has crossed N222 million at the Nigerian box office, extending its strong cinema run and setting multiple records in the process as audiences across West Africa continue to drive ticket sales.
The film, distributed by FilmOne Entertainment, is now officially the highest-grossing romance film of 2026 and has become the first Nollywood title to record a 20% weekend-on-weekend increase at the box office, according to figures shared by the distributors.
The movie also retained its position as the highest-grossing film for a second consecutive weekend, showing the growing commercial momentum behind locally produced romance titles in Nigerian cinemas.
According to the post by the distributing company published on X,
Celebrating the milestone, the producers credited audiences across West Africa for the film’s success, noting that viewers had not only supported the project but had “made history with it.”
The latest box office achievement further strengthens Nollywood’s growing theatrical market in 2026, particularly for genre-driven local productions capable of competing with international releases for audience attention and cinema revenue.
Nairametrics previously reported that between the weekend of May 15 to 17, Call of My Life opened with a combined N76.5 million in its debut weekend and an early cumulative total of N78.2 million, making it one of the strongest opening performances for a Nollywood romance film this year.
The film is directed and edited by Dammy Twitch, while the screenplay was written by Uzoamaka Power.
Call of My Life follows the story of Soluchi, played by Power, a hopeless romantic attempting to rebuild her life after heartbreak following a failed relationship with Kalu, portrayed by Zubby Michael.
The ensemble cast also features Beverly Osu, Nkem Owoh, Patience Ozokwor, Broda Shaggi, Justin Chukwudi Ugonna, and Ezekiel, credited as Justing UG.
