A foreign lady has triggered mixed reactions on social media after commenting on the value of Nigeria’s currency.
In a viral video, she expressed surprise that the ₦1000 note, which is the highest denomination of the naira, has very little purchasing power and cannot even match the value of one US dollar.

She was seen in the video flaunting the note while questioning its value.
“I find it funny that the N1000 is your highest denomination of the Naira and it doesn’t get you anything not even a dollar,” she remarked.
However, the video has now stirred a debate among social media users who took to the comment section to share their views.

@GraceHaven247 said: “Is this really an issue in Nigeria where we have a “master strategist” in the Villa that is strategically burying the economy while looting the Treasury dry.
Governance or any clear economic policy is never a priority please, he has next election to rig!”
@gtagmemes remarked: “No be naija be the first to get corrupt politicians. But why our own worse worse?? Like every administration dey dig deeper inside the pit of backwardness”
@olawhite wrote: “External forces are denigrating your country, and you are laughing along; this is why they regard us as inferior and disrespect us. Stop it. There are 101 things one thousand naira can buy in Nigeria. It will buy 5 bottles of water, can you drink all of that at once?”
