The Office of the President of the Court of Appeal has announced the initiation of an exercise to fill eleven current vacancies on the Court of Appeal bench, following approval by the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Hon. Justice Kudirat Motonmori O. Kekere-Ekun, GCON.
A notification circulated to the presiding justices and other members of the Court of Appeal stated that the vacancies are distributed across the six geo-political zones as follows: North-Central (2), North-East (2), North-West (2), South-East (1), South-South (2), and South-West (2).
The letter, signed by the Honourable President of the Court of Appeal, M. B. Dongban-Mensem, CFR, JP, called on justices to recommend suitably qualified candidates for consideration. The communication emphasized that nominees must demonstrate exceptional industriousness, transparency, and integrity.
In line with Rule 16 of the Federal Judicial Service Commission (FJSC) Regulations, 2015, recommendations must include:
The nomination window is set to run for 14 days, from October 27 to November 14, 2025.
The Court of Appeal’s notification also cautioned that unauthorized disclosure of information contained in the exercise is strictly prohibited under Sections 101 and 102 of the Official Secrets Act, 2004.
