The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has commissioned the Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja Complex at the Nigerian Army College of Logistics and Management (NACOLM), Lagos, reaffirming the Nigerian Army’s commitment to strengthening professional military education, administrative efficiency and personnel welfare through modern infrastructure.
The commissioning ceremony, held on Friday, July 17 was disclosed in a statement issued by the Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Colonel Appolonia Anele.
According to the statement, the facility was named after the late former Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, in recognition of his contributions to the development of the Nigerian Army.
The complex is expected to enhance the College’s training, administrative and welfare functions by providing a more conducive environment for developing logistics professionals to support the Army’s operational effectiveness.

Speaking at the event, Shaibu described the late Lagbaja as an exceptional military leader whose legacy continues to inspire officers and soldiers across the Nigerian Army.
He said the late Army Chief’s “professionalism, integrity, selfless service and unwavering commitment to national service remain a source of inspiration to officers and soldiers of the Nigerian Army.”
The Army Chief added that naming the complex after the late military officer reflected the institution’s enduring appreciation of his “immense contributions to force development, leadership and operational excellence.”
Shaibu also urged officers, instructors and students of the College to emulate the values exemplified by the late Lagbaja by remaining disciplined, professional and committed to excellence in the discharge of their duties.
He reiterated that sustained investment in military training institutions, modern infrastructure and personnel welfare remained central to his vision of building a more effective Nigerian Army.
According to him, “sustained investment in training institutions, modern infrastructure and personnel welfare remains fundamental to my command philosophy of transforming the Nigerian Army into a more professional, adaptive, combat-ready and resilient force capable of effectively discharging its constitutional responsibilities within a joint and multi-agency environment.”
The Nigerian Army said the new facility forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen institutional capacity and improve the quality of logistics training required to support national security operations.
