A woman who was shot by suspected kidnappers in Ogbere Forest, Ogun State, has narrated her ordeal after being rescued. The victim was among five persons freed within 25 hours in a joint operation by the Lagos and Ogun State Police Commands under Operation KOSAYE.
Recounting the attack, the woman said a gunman blocked their vehicle and ordered them out. She told reporters, “When we were going to the centre of the road, what I saw was a young man parked… He said, come out, or I will shoot you. I managed myself, I said, I won’t come out. He fired me with a bullet.”
She said the attackers became violent when she refused to comply. “He grabbed my daughter, the one I entered, and he shot me. He came back again, grabbed my sister and me…” she recounted. She sustained gunshot wounds during the assault.
Police confirmed that five victims were rescued in under 25 hours following the joint operation codenamed Operation KOSAYE. The rescued woman is currently receiving medical attention for her injuries.
Authorities say the search for the remaining suspects is ongoing. Police have urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities in forest and highway areas.
