A Federal High Court in Ikoyi has discharged and acquitted popular Lagos socialite and nightclub owner Mike Nwalie, popularly known as Pretty Mike, and his club supervisor Joachim Hillary in a drug case brought by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
Justice Ambrose Lewis-Allagoa upheld the defendants’ “no-case submission,” ruling that the NDLEA failed to establish a prima facie case against them. The judge held that the prosecution’s evidence was based on mere suspicion without sufficient credible linkage to the alleged offences. Consequently, Pretty Mike and Hillary were discharged without being called to open their defence.

The case originated from an NDLEA raid on Pretty Mike’s Proxy Lagos nightclub in Victoria Island on October 26, 2025. Agents reportedly recovered 169 cylinders of nitrous oxide (laughing gas) weighing 384.662 kilograms and 200 grams of cannabis sativa. The agency alleged the substances were meant for an illegal “drug-themed party” and labelled the club an instrumentality of crime.
Pretty Mike and Hillary faced a three-count charge of conspiracy, unlawful possession of hard drugs, and permitting the premises to be used for illicit drug activities. They pleaded not guilty and were granted bail in November 2025.
Defence counsel Chikaosolu Ojukwu (SAN) argued that the evidence was weak and inconsistent.
