The Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos, has sentenced Fidelix Samuel Ebuka to eight years and three months’ imprisonment for laundering N90.9 million.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) disclosed the conviction in a post on its X page on Friday, saying Justice Yellim Bogoro found Ebuka guilty on a 14-count charge bordering on the retention of proceeds of unlawful activities amounting to N90,989,517.
According to the anti-graft agency, one of the charges stated that the convict retained N90,989,517 in his Union Bank account, “which proceeds you reasonably ought to have known formed part of the proceeds of an unlawful act.”
Ebuka was arraigned on June 10, 2026, and initially pleaded not guilty to the charges.
However, at the resumed hearing on July 8, he changed his plea from “not guilty” to “guilty”, prompting the prosecution to ask the court to convict and sentence him accordingly.

Justice Bogoro subsequently sentenced him to eight years and three months in prison, with an option of a N8.5 million fine.
The court also ordered the convict to perform two weeks of community service in respect of count 14.
In addition, the judge ordered the forfeiture to the Federal Government of an iPhone 15 Pro Max, iPhone XR, iPhone 12 Pro Max, iPhone 13 Pro Max, a Mercedes-Benz G65, a 2014 Mercedes-Benz ML, a gold chain and two HP laptops.
