Residents of the CRD Layout at Lugbe, Abuja, Tuesday, begged the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Mr Nyesom Wike, to call the authorities of Paulo Homes to order over alleged land encroachment.
They claimed that Paulo Homes encroaches on the CRD land by building houses in the layout, and “using thugs to intimidate residents and stakeholders in conjunction with Riverpack police personnel in Lugbe despite the case being in court”.
The residents, who spoke with newsmen through their representative, Mr Adeniyi Balogun, claimed that the Federal Capital Development Authority, FCDA, had in the past cautioned Paulo Homes over encroachment on four layouts, including CRD Layout.
Quoting Balogun, “We regret that Paulo Homes didn’t heed to the caution by the FCDA, and still makes another illegal encroachment attempt within CRD Layout. It’s important to draw the attention of the Minister to our plights. It seems that Paulo Homes and Riverpark Estate are the only estates in Abuja that have no measured land.”
The residents pleaded with the minister to as a matter of urgency revoke all the land spaces so far encroached upon by Paulo Homes in CRD layout at Lugbe area of Abuja.
Quoting them, “Our plea to Wike is to intervene in this protracted land encroachment by Paulo Homes on our layout by revoking the ones the estate company had so far taken from CRD layout. The minster should also order for the arrest of the man behind the Paulo Homes, Mr Paul Odili, who is not obeying the directives of FCDA on the layout.”
The residents however commended Mr Wike for the transformation of the Federal Capital Territory, especially in the area of road infrastructure, health, electricity and human empowerment. According to them, “Virtually all the major roads that were hitherto bad have been reconstructed and given a new facelift by the administration.”
Balogun said, “Not only the roads, the hospitals, schools, drinking water and human capital development are also at the forefront of receiving attention by the ministry.”
