Fresh turmoil has hit the Lagos State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) following the suspension of party elder statesman Chief Bode George and 23 other members over allegations of anti-party activities.
The decision, which has generated reactions across political circles, was announced by the party’s disciplinary committee after an internal review of complaints brought against the affected members. Party officials said the action was taken to uphold discipline and protect the interests of the PDP in Lagos State.
According to the committee, the suspended members were accused of actions deemed inconsistent with the party’s constitution and objectives. The leadership maintained that the move became necessary after concerns emerged about activities that allegedly undermined party unity and weakened its internal structure.
Chief Bode George, a former Deputy National Chairman of the PDP, is among the most prominent figures affected by the disciplinary action. Several other senior party members were also named in the suspension list, highlighting the scale of the ongoing leadership disagreements within the Lagos chapter.
Party leaders argued that maintaining discipline remains critical as the PDP seeks to rebuild its strength and position itself for future political contests. They insisted that no member, regardless of status, is above the party’s rules and regulations.
