Darwin Nunez could be closing in on a surprise reunion with Mohamed Salah, with both players reportedly closing in on moves to Turkiye.
Nunez is eyeing up a transfer as he looks to end what has been a nightmare year. Having made the move to Saudi Arabia from Liverpool last summer, the striker was dropped from Al-Hilalās league squad for the second half of the season, meaning he has not played a domestic game since February.
The World Cup didnāt offer any respite either, with Uruguay crashing out at the group stage as Nunez failed to score in any of his three appearances.
Despite the prospect of him being released from his contract at Al-Hilal being touted this summer, no such agreement has been made, but Nunez has been on the lookout for a new club. Recent reports indicated that he has been in talks with Major League Soccer side Atlanta United, although a return to Europe could now be on the cards.
According to Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri, Nunez is āeding closerā to an agreement with Besiktas, with the 27-year-old set for a loan move to the Turkish club for the 2026/27 season.

Italian journalist Nicolo Schira has reported that the Istanbul side has agreed personal terms with the Egyptian, who left Anfield earlier this summer after agreeing to waive the final year of his contract on Merseyside.
Salah is said to have a one-year contract in place, with the option of a further year to take him to 2028. The winger is claimed to have agreed to a deal worth ā¬12 million ($13.7M) per year, with Besiktas boss Vincenzo Italiano said to have played a key role in convincing him on the move to Turkiye.
Besiktas is now āconfidentā it can finalize the deal within the next few days, which would end the ongoing speculation over Salahās future. The winger has been linked with Saudi Arabia for years now, while recent rumors suggested MLS side Sporting Kansas City was in the running.

Besiktas president Serdal Adali has confirmed that the club has been in talks with Salah, but despite seemingly getting the green light from the 34-year-old, his agent has made things trickier.
Speaking to outlet WinWin, Adali said: “Salah has given his approval for this transfer and his agent initially responded positively to our offer. Salah spoke to both our technical director and our sporting director and gave his approval as well.
“But later, as soon as it was written in the media that āthe transfer had been completedā, the agent raised the financial demands. The agent raised his commission to unbelievable figures, reaching about 35 percent.
“From our side, such a percentage cannot be accepted under any circumstances.”
