The Lagos State Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) governorship candidate, Funso Doherty, has accused the Lagos State Government of covering opposition campaign posters across the state.
Doherty made the allegation in a statement on Monday, describing the alleged removal and covering of opposition posters as a troubling development for democracy.
He said an incumbent government that needed to “work so hard to hide its opponents’ posters” was raising questions about its confidence in its own record.
Doherty argued that political parties and candidates should be allowed to present their ideas to voters without interference.
“Because when you have built something to stand on, you don’t need to tear down what others are building,” he said on X
“You let the ideas compete. You let the people decide.”
The NDC candidate further said that covering opposition posters in broad daylight had already sent a message to the electorate about the incumbent administration.
He urged voters to pay attention to what he described as the unfolding political developments in Lagos ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
