Media mogul Mo Abudu has shared her thoughts on heartbreak, relationships and the importance of self-worth, urging women not to remain in relationships with men who are not genuinely interested in them.
The media entrepreneur made this known during an interview with media personality Toke Makinwa, where she spoke candidly about her approach to love and relationships.
According to Mo Abudu, she is no longer at a stage in her life where a man can cause her emotional distress through heartbreak. She explained that if she ever finds herself crying, it would likely be because of her work rather than a romantic relationship.
“Heartbreak. Nobody can break my heart. It’s not possible. Heartbreak. There’s no such thing as heartbreak at my age.
If I cry, it’s not because of a man. It may be because of my work,” she said.
Sharing advice with women, particularly younger ladies, the media mogul stressed that no woman can force a man to commit to a relationship if he is not interested.
She encouraged women to recognise when a relationship is not working and walk away rather than continue investing their time and emotions in someone who does not value them.
“Listen, you cannot make a man be in a relationship with you. If he wants to be, he will. If he doesn’t want to be in it, he’s kidding you. Leave him. Move on. He doesn’t want to be there.
You have to get over it, because you need to read the writing, guys. It is easy. Because don’t downgrade yourself in front of anybody,” she advised.
Mo Abudu further warned young women against allowing men to take advantage of their feelings while offering little or no commitment in return.
According to her, some men may continue to engage in romantic relationships without having genuine intentions, leaving women hoping for a commitment that may never come.
“And to young girls, don’t downgrade yourself. He will sleep with you. He will deceive you. He will lie to you, and you’re still there. Doing what? Pressure of what? Or be with a man – a man that doesn’t want you?” she said.
She also urged women to pay attention to the signs of disinterest in their relationships, noting that repeated excuses, prolonged silence and being ignored could indicate that a man is no longer interested.
“You know in your gut that he’s messing around. True. Because he hasn’t called you for two weeks. He’s ghosting you. He’s telling you he’s busy doing what? Chasing somebody else.
If you see those kinds of people, leave them alone. Those types of people don’t want you. Please ladies. Anybody can have you. But what does it take?” she added.
